Your Covenant Rights (1)

Pastor’s Notes

Joshua 6:20-23 Saved to possess.

[20] So the people shouted when the priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city. [21] And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, ox and sheep and donkey, with the edge of the sword. [22] But Joshua had said to the two men who had spied out the country, “Go into the harlot’s house, and from there bring out the woman and all that she has, as you swore to her.” [23] And the young men who had been spies went in and brought out Rahab, her father, her mother, her brothers, and all that she had. So they brought out all her relatives and left them outside the camp of Israel.

*My covenant relationship with God gives me the foundation for my faith.

Example: Jairus’ daughter
The men on the roof.

Man determines your salary, but God determines your increase.

God allows the wicked to prosper so you can strip them of their gold.
The wicked have two purposes for existing on the earth:
(1) to get saved
(2) to get striped of their wealth –
Joshua 6:20-23

If you are in covenant with God, you can stand before the wicked and take what is yours.

David defeated Goliath because of covenant.

Those with covenants are blessed.

*God can be against you when people with you or in the congregation are robbing God.
Joshua 7:1 Joshua 7:1 NKJV
[1] But the children of Israel committed a trespass regarding the accursed things, for Achan the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed things; so the anger of the LORD burned against the children of Israel.

Joshua 7:2 When God brings you into the promise land He wants you to view it before you enter in. If you lack vision you can’t have it.

*Don’t mix God’s money with yours

Joshua 7:11-12

[11] Israel has sinned, and they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. For they have even taken some of the accursed things, and have both stolen and deceived; and they have also put it among their own stuff. [12] Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they have become doomed to destruction. Neither will I be with you anymore, unless you destroy the accursed from among you.

If you get with the wrong people, you can end up in the wilderness.

Watch who you are joined to.

God will judge you because of them.

Ten men caused Joshua and Caleb to wonder for 40 years.

*Your breakthrough comes when you stay focused on the promises of God. Remove the unspecified
Joshua 7:2,13 NKJV
[2] Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai, which is beside Beth Aven, on the east side of Bethel, and spoke to them, saying, “Go up and spy out the country.” So the men went up and spied out Ai. [13] Get up, sanctify the people, and say, ‘Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, because thus says the LORD God of Israel: “There is an accursed thing in your midst, O Israel; you cannot stand before your enemies until you take away the accursed thing from among you.”

*We must live without excuses (Joshua 7:20-21).
Joshua 7:20-21 NKJV
[20] And Achan answered Joshua and said, “Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel, and this is what I have done: [21] When I saw among the spoils a beautiful Babylonian garment, two hundred shekels of silver, and a wedge of gold weighing fifty shekels, I coveted them and took them. And there they are, hidden in the earth in the midst of my tent, with the silver under it.”

One person was keeping Israel from standing triumphant before the enemy.

The people are blessed when the name of the Lord is put on them.
Numbers 6:27 NKJV
[27] “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”

*When the truth of God is changed in your heart you will do many unnatural things such as homosexuality.
Romans 1:25 NKJV
[25] who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
Romans 1:26-27 NKJV
[26] For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. [27] Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

*Division is why Jesus came.
Luke 12:51 NKJV
[51] Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.

The believer is to glory in tribulation.
Romans 5:3 NKJV
[3] And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance;

*When you are in sin you have no strength to fight off the devil or the works of the flesh.
Romans 5:6 NKJV
[6] For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.

*Sinners are the enemy of God.
Romans 5:10 NKJV
[10] For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

*When you are chosen you will be taken to hard places
Matthew 20:17 NKJV
[17] Now Jesus, going up to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside on the road and said to them,
